I took a vacation to San Diego with my girlfriend. On a Winter Sunday, we attempted a 12 mile loop around Mission Bay. I finished first and was locked out of the car. In a desperate attempt to find a place to get some water and food, I found this place. I called ahead, and was told they allowed people who aren’t staying at the resort. My girlfriend was having an ankle issue when she arrived, so I asked the host, Victor, for an ice pack. I was able to ice my girlfriend’s ankle and eat some wonderful acai and a surf and turn burrito. Highly recommended!

Dockside 1953 is an absolute gem! The waterfront views create the perfect ambiance, and the service is exceptional—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the Eggs Benedict was perfectly cooked, and the mimosa flight was such a fun touch with great flavors. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Whether you’re coming for brunch, dinner, or just drinks, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a party of seven people for dinner two were our grandsons. Celeste was our server. She was absolutely amazing and made our experience there. She accommodated us and went the extra mile to make our experience awesome. The food was delicious. Highly recommend this place. Celeste even brought our grandson a birthday dessert with a candle in it.

What an amazing place! We were there to celebrate our anniversary and get some of the pan seared bass. Ethan was our server and he did a fantastic job. Attentive and knowledgeable while having a great attitude! We got the bread, Lamb and of course the Bass along with creme brulee to finish it off. A perfect meal and highly recommend!

Dockside 1953 After living in San Diego for over 20 years, I’m amazed that I just now discovered Dockside 1953—it truly is a hidden gem. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a lovely waterfront setting that enhances the dining experience. But what really stole the show was the food. The filet mignon was out of this world—so tender that I could literally cut it with a butter knife. It was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and practically melted in my mouth. Pairing it with their gouda mac and cheese was a revelation. I’ve had my fair share of mac and cheese, but this one is on another level—rich, creamy, and perfectly cheesy with a hint of smoky gouda. It’s the kind of dish you’d come back for on its own. To round out the meal, I indulged in the creme brulee, which was nothing short of exceptional. The caramelized sugar layer had the perfect crunch, giving way to a silky, smooth custard that was just the right balance of sweet and creamy. It was the ideal way to end such a satisfying meal. Dockside 1953 has quickly become one of my favorite dining spots. The combination of high-quality food, impeccable service, and serene waterfront views makes it a standout. I’m already planning my next visit to explore more of their menu! If you’re in San Diego and haven’t been, you’re missing out. Highly recommend!
